Martha F. Mothershead
Estate Planning & Landlord Tenant Matters
Martha joined the firm 15 years ago, after practicing the first part of her career in Michigan. Her practice is two-fold: she represents landlords with residential and commercial leasing matters, and she has a busy estate planning practice.
Martha drafts wills and trusts for adults of all ages. She enjoys helping families create plans for their loved ones, often with complicated family dynamics. Martha is regularly appointed by northern Virginia courts to serve as Guardian Ad Litem in adult guardianship and conservatorship matters.
Martha regularly teaches online adult education courses on estate planning and landlording through Arlington Public Schools.
A lifelong swimmer, Martha is working on bucket list swims. She swam around Michigan's Mackinac Island in 2025, and will try the Mackinac Bridge Swim in July 2026
